The Son was absent due to a lost fight with his duvet following a late night at the school disco. Who knew that 12 year olds asked girls for their mobile numbers? How the youth of today mature before their rightful years.
This gave me the opportunity to spin my legs a bit, although not too fast since the Finchley 20 takes place tomorrow, and try and finish somewhere around 23 minutes. A sudden sharp pain made me stop just before the first km marker. I initially thought it was just my socks rubbing against my toes but thought better of running through it. To my surprise I found a large splinter had speared through the front of my shoe and was now sharply embedded in my big toe.
The unplanned pit stop left me with some overtaking to do and I couldn’t quite catch up with Other Dan before the finish. The gap slowly narrowed around the park but he put on a fast finish that I could only match along the top path.
Another great parkrun completed.
