Screaming like a girl, run & chat, not parkrun #72 and return of the eggs that are scrambled.
My first parkrun of 2014 and a squelchy course welcomed me back with her wet & muddy arms. The Son didn’t seem that interested in running, although he said he would come and watch, but I asked him to run with me and he leapt at the chance. He may be a pre-teen bundle of “everything is fine” all week but get him running at parkrun and the little scamp chats away to me.
The grass section of the course was strewn with deep(ish) puddles and the runners were screaming away as we sloshed through the muddy mayhem. Thankfully the rest of the course is tarmac path, so our feet dried out a bit before traversing the puddles on the second grass descent.
We met Other Dan at the finish funnel, where I seemed convinced that this was my 72nd parkrun, before heading to the café for much deserved breakfast.
It’s great to be back :-)
