Janathon 2014 – Day 30: Crying, Waiting, Hoping

by Dan

A change of PLAN, mud stops and a parent-teacher evening.

An early evening teacher-parent meeting at the school meant a work from home day for me. THE PLAN called for a 9 mile run with 7 miles at marathon pace but I warped that and went for 9 mile run with the majority at my planned pace for the Brighton Half Marathon.

The run went well, although I did get carried away and went too fast on some parts, but then I hit some muddy sections in the park that disrupted my pacing. I was wearing my new Mizuno ‘racers’ and didn’t want to go ankle-deep through the various puddles and mud. Next time I will re-route to use the tarmac sections of the park and not the trail paths.

Our first parent-teacher meeting was interesting. Each set of parents were given their own small table with a name tag of their child. Each subject teacher moved around the room in a planned order and spent 5 minutes at each table. A timed audio system played a loud gong noise every 5 minutes to keep the teachers moving. It was basically speed dating.

Janathon 2014:

  • Exercise completed today: running
  • Distance run today: 9.02 miles
  • Distance run so far: 164.97 miles
