Still no running but the roof is fixed.
No parkrun for me today. No rugby tournament for The Son. No Southern XC Championship for me in the afternoon. It’s a crushing feeling when you’re not able to go out and do the things you had planned.
One positive piece of news though – the roofer came in the morning to clear out our gutters and fix the broken section where water was leaking down the outside of the house. The rain wasn’t emptying the gutter and was falling onto the garage roof that in turn caused rain to splash down one side of the house.
He cleared out all the crud, fixed the broken gutter and even fixed the illegal bit of guttering on the neighbour’s house where they extended on the side and fixed the guttering over our side of the properties. This was in place before we moved in but we know it’s illegal to be like that.
They had a broken bit as well and it’s been leaking for years onto their extension – I would have thought it was causing damp but they’ve never bothered to do anything about it. Now it’s fixed thanks to a conscientious roofer who didn’t like to see such bad workmanship.
Great timing as well due to a thunder-storm that hit in the afternoon. I popped my head out of the window above the garage and can safely report that the leak has gone and all the water is flowing properly through the down pipes.
I’m still recovering from illness so no running for me today and The Son is still sick so no school rugby for him.
