New Shoes

Marathon Store shopping and the joy of hill repeats.

A day of meetings at our office near Liverpool Street meant a quick visit to the newly opened London Marathon Store was in order. I am running The Box Hill Fell Race on Saturday and ideally wanted to get some super-grip fell shoes and this was my only chance to visit a running shop this week.

My preference is to try on new shoes when it’s a type or brand that I haven’t worn before but they only had a selection of trail shoes rather than the more specialist fell shoes. Still, everything was on sale so the lure of some sparkly trail shoes was too much and I’ll be wearing these bad boys on Saturday. Now I just need to find the right time and place to break them in beforehand on a training run.

My activity for today was an 8 mile run with 8 hill repeats thrown in for gut busting loveliness. I ran local roads as a warm-up and then 8 reps of a pedestrian only footpath with a final few miles back to home as a warm down.

Janathon 2014:

  • Exercise completed today: running
  • Distance run today: 8.09 miles
  • Distance run so far: 107.73 miles
