Hot beverage, Charlie had a pigeon, you’re gonna need a bigger boat, a lovely roast with friends and one last hurrah.
My first race of the year and a club outing for the 4th of 5 races in the Sunday Cross Country League. The Son accompanied us on the coach as our official photographer and he loves the coach outings because we meet outside a local Starbucks. His little face lit up once he had a large hot chocolate and a bag of caramel biscuits in his hand.
The coach was awash with the noise of chatting Eagles but sadly no rendition of ‘Charlie Had a Pigeon‘. We arrived at Royston with plenty of time to set-up base camp and I swear that they’ve made the hills bigger since last year. This was my favourite cross-country fixture of 2013 thanks to a lovely hilly course with lots of fast descents, technical turns and energy sapping climbs.
On the journey home a call was made to the good folks at The New Inn so a table was reserved for group of ravenous Eagles. For once I was unable to clear my plate!
In the evening I headed out again to run from my house to Hyde Park and back. This 13 mile jaunt brought my total up to 19 miles for the day and meant that I hit my long run target via a double run day.
Janathon 2014:
