Road trip, parking fail, km markers and onto Parliament Hill.
Some more parkrun tourism this week as I met Other Dan at the Polish War Memorial and drove us to Upton Court parkrun. I had run the inaugural event with The Son just under a year back and wanted to return so that Other Dan could add the event to his list, to run slowly as we both had cross-country in the afternoon and to also record a course PB for the Lucozade ‘Chase The Place’ competition to try and win a London Marathon spot.
For the inaugural I had parked at the far end of the course and walked through the park but this time round I headed down towards the rugby club car park. I had bit of a parking fail as I could not see how to enter the car park since there were metal poles blocking the entrance. We were scratching our collective heads until we saw another car drive down and between the posts – they had looked so close together to us!
It’s a nice friendly parkrun with a small community feel to it. We jogged round the course admiring the km markers, which are a great addition, and then popped into the rugby club after to grab a quick drink. I would have loved to have stayed for a bacon sandwich but Parliament Hill beckoned.
