The Son the spectator, Other Dan is beaten and a comeback PB.
Eleven weeks of solid training with weekly coached track sessions are now bearing fruit. Gone are the post-injury slogs around Gunnersbury parkrun and today I decided to put my fitness to the test as The Son opted not to run and instead took a camping chair along to watch the runners pass by.
I went out at around 4:30 / km pace and waited for the tiredness to start, and waited, and waited, and waited and held some pace back going up the slope only to find things too slow so started to overtake runners ahead of me. I felt fine at half-way so gradually increased my speed and for the first time in months my running form felt good at a faster pace.
Other Dan was overtaken on the last km (ok… he hasn’t really run for 4 weeks due to injury and moving house… but I’ll still take it as a “win”) and I finished with a comeback PB of 23 minutes and 14 seconds.
