parkrun #45

The Son finally decided to take down his PB and he did it in some style by smashing 2 minutes off his previous Gunnersbury parkrun best time. I have been telling him for ages that he should be running sub-25 minutes but he prefers to run at his own easy pace and occasionally speed up for the second half.

I had been ordered not to run with him this week so thought that I would target somewhere under 26 minutes and then wait for him at the finish. He had other ideas and I had not realised that he was only just trailing behind me up until the half way point where he serenely glided past on the grassy slope with a subtle *cough*.

I then had to watch as he pulled away into the distance to cross the line before me. I kept checking my watch on the final dash to the finish to see if he could slide under 25 minutes but in the end he was just over. That’s something for him to aim for in the near future.
