A return mob match with Barnes Runners on home territory with extra spice provided by West 4 Harriers joining the fun. The Eagles had their wings clipped by Barnes when we raced at Old Deer Park parkrun in February and this time we were out for some friendly revenge.
The Son joined the fun as photographer, aiming to practice ready for summer league the following day, and I was running with the hope that I was not going to be in a scoring position. I am horribly out of shape now and my times have fallen in the wrong direction while my weight has also been steadily creeping up at the same time.
I enjoyed my run even though my time was nothing special and West 4 took the honours with some impressive times. Unfortunately Barnes brought around 10 runners so this meant only the top 7 from each club contributed to the mob match. Still, it was great to see so many club vests out on the course and so many people making their way to the café afterwards.
The Son really enjoyed himself with my camera as he was using the longer lens for the first time. He caught some cracking ‘running face’ pictures, which have now made their way onto the Gunnersbury Flickr page.
