The Son decided that he did not fancy parkrun in the snow but accompanied me to Gunnersbury park so he could pelt me with snowballs before the start. We also used our time productively to warm-up build a snowman who we would christen Jeffrey.
Attendance was down this week (I wonder why?) so I had my sights set of my highest Gunnersbury finish but then The Son decided that he would run so lined up on the start line.
Unfortunately his idea of “running” was run-walk-snowball-run-walk-snowball and we ended up firmly rooted at the back of the field. This would not be a problem in nicer weather but I told him that it was not fair on the tail runner who had to keep running-walking-running-walking behind him in the freezing conditions. In the end he made it to the 1km mark and then walked back to the finish funnel to wait for me.
The Son was waiting for me at the finish armed with yet another snowball, which he graciously hit me with as I approached the finish line. Thanks!
