Cold mist hanging in the air did not give me inspiration to head outside today and my legs were certainly trying to persuade me to stay on the sofa due to the pounding they took at cross-country yesterday. Sunday is usually my long run day with the Eagles but with a hefty amount of Janathon mileage under my belt already, plus two races, I decided to make today an extremely gentle recovery run.
I wrapped myself up in several layers, found my gloves, lost my gloves, and then found another pair of gloves before heading outside. My legs were trying their best to whisper promises of relieve if I just went back inside so I pulled out all the tricks I know to distract myself from the general aching. I picked a new route by making random turns at road junctions and I even wore my headphones for the first time in weeks but eventually the cold got to me and I completed my run with a gentle run-walk-run back to the house.
I will probably ease down the mileage and intensity for a couple of days as I have a 5k mob match on Saturday morning at Old Deer Park parkun and another cross-country race on Sunday.
