Janathon 2013 – Day 31: Stay On Target

by Dan

With my 31st consecutive run of 2013 – Janathon comes to an end.

Today I planned an 8 mile run from the office to Tower Bridge and back, including 6 miles at marathon pace, but it was pouring with rain as I made my way over to the gym changing room. I am fond of rain running from time-to-time but today the strong wind blew cold rain horizontally so I decided to wuss out by sticking to the treadmill.

So that’s another ‘athon done and dusted with my first rest day of the year pencilled in for tomorrow before I resume marathon training. I was looking forward to a break but now it feels…. strangely wrong!

I ran a new 10k PB on the 1st January at the Serpentine 10k, slogged my way through the mud at the Middlesex Cross Country Championships, and relished the hills at Royston through the Sunday XC League. I clocked up a total of 154.43 miles by running every day while shedding 1.4kg of unwanted weight through the combination of exercise and improved nutrition.

Now my focus is on lowering my half marathon PB before taking on my second marathon. Of course there is Juneathon to look forward too as well.

Janathon 2013:

  • Exercise completed today: running
  • Distance run today:   8.43 miles
  • Distance run so far: 154.43 miles
  • Weight change so far: -1.4kg
