The night before… dinner & dance at a swanky central London hotel with Mrs Dan, spotting the Man Utd squad staying overnight before their match with Spurs, dancing Gangnam Style (oh dear!), and home late with bit of a sore throat. No drinking though as I was driving.
The next morning… awake at 4am with a pounding headache and a really sore throat before finally getting some sleep once the paracetamol kicked into action.
I had no idea whether I would make it outside today as my sore throat turned into a small cold but The Son had been promised a trip to the local park with his sledge and he threw a massive strop when I hinted at staying home all day. Thankfully my cold did not blossom into anything serious so I took him out later in the morning.
I was struggling on how to extend my Janathon / Jantastic running streak with the knowledge that I had to obey my self defined rules:
- It has to involve running. Not walking. Not gentle jogging. Running.
- I have to wear my running kit.
- I have to record it on my Garmin.
- I have to run more than 1 mile.
How did I manage it today? Hill work! I ran the up parts of the hill and used the sledge to bomb down again before running up again. Trail shoes on and layers of running kit under my jacket and hat. Garmin on to record it all. Job done.
The Son had a great time sledging, we made a second visit later in the day as well, and I was able to fit my running in at the same time.
Janathon 2013:
- Exercise completed today: running
- Distance run today: 1.44 miles
- Distance run so far: 99.79 miles
- Weight change so far: -0.8kg

i love that you took your garmin sledging, that’s the sort of thing I’d do!
It was fun although I probably would swap it for beach running in Sri Lanka (don’t tell my son though!).
