Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas to one and all.
We joined a gaggle of Ealing Eagle Santa’s for the clubs annual Santa Run through Ealing Broadway to raise over £750 for the local charity Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter. After a brief photo opportunity at the park we ran up the North Circular, attracting some seasonal horn honking from the passing cars, before turning into the main high street at Ealing Broadway via the common.
The Son willingly joined me, which was a good thing because Mrs Dan was out for the day and he was stuck with me anyway, and he really enjoyed being part of the group. However, he was being a little watchful as we ran into the shopping mall area just in case any of his friends were there and spotted him. I am not quite sure how anyone would recognise him with his full Santa outfit on in among a big group of Santa’s but who I am to question the ‘coolness’ of being in a Santa run.
We made a brief stop in the centre of the mall for an impromptu outburst of carol singing while our collection bucket was rattled and then we finished the run through Walpole Park before finally convening for some mulled wine and minced pies at The New Inn. A merry time was had by all, although The Son was a bit worn out by the combined 10k of parkrun & Santa Run, and it was great to spread some cheer around the local community while collecting for a worthwhile local cause.
