We were back at Gunnersbury park run again this week and The Son had his eye on a sub-27 minute time once he heard the announcement that there were some pacers running. There are other parkrun locations that occasionally provide pacers and Gunnersbury was giving it a try to see if it could useful to runners before looking at whether it becomes a monthly fixture.
Our little group started off but I began to notice that The Son was falling back so I slowed down to run beside him and check whether there was a problem. It turned out that he did not want to run inside the pacing group itself and preferred to tag just a little behind so we adopted that strategy for the rest of the route. However, we did start to fall back slightly so hitting a sub-27 minute time was going to be out of the question but I was proud of The Son for sticking with it as much as possible and he certainly did not give up at any point.
