The Son has his sights firmly on hitting & passing the parkrun junior 10 Club membership and this was his 7th parkrun. His effort level each week is extremely variable, with the hot weather really seeming to create a psychological barrier that he finds hard to crack, but week on week he toes the start line and I am always proud of him for taking part. He is also keen to volunteer through the year once he hits that magic 10 figure so we will no doubt be putting our names forward a few time during the winter months.

This week The Son decided not to rush off at the start and instead hung back with me at a much more reasonable pace. He seemed quite content to go with a slower time this week so we chatted away until we reached the half way mark until he made his usual burst in speed down the grass slope. I tagged along a little way behind waiting for him to slow down but I then had trouble keeping up as he increased the overall speed.

He ended up blasting through to the finish and knocking just over 2 minutes off his previous personal best, which was a fantastic run. He was pleased with the result but still felt that he could run faster so the next few weeks could be interesting.
