Juneathon 2012 – Day 2: Wedding Day Shenanigans

by Dan

No formal exercise for me as I had to forgo my usual Saturday karate training and instead make the drive across London and out to the Kent coastline for the wedding of my cousin. She is related on my fathers side of the family and it was really nice to catchup with family who I have no seen for a fair number of years. In fact many of them had not met The Son before and since he is now 10 year old, which means I have not seen them for a really long time indeed.

The wedding took place in a small church in the tiny village of Reculver and the onto a nearby local pub for the reception, which was held in a large marquee set-up in a nearby field. It was quite an informal affair where dinner was provided from a hog spit roast where you helped yourself to salad and vegetables. Not a great day for my diet thanks to the succulent pork and the obligatory slice of cake afterwards.

My contribution to Juneathon presented itself thanks to the kids entertainment as there was a bouncy castle set-up so I jumped on for a spell of general bouncing & falling with The Son. We had a really nice day out where it was great to see so many family members who we really only get to see at weddings, christenings, and funerals.

Tomorrow is another family day out as we’re off out again but this time to visit my mum and attend the local village Jubilee street party. I have my fingers crossed that we will be back a lot earlier and also that the rain will fade away so I can get out for a run in the evening.
