Juneathon 2012 – Day 20: Suntan(tastic)

by Dan

My weight us plummeting now thanks to the constant stream of exercise, mostly through running at least 10k per day, and my attention to my diet. The secret to losing weight, or maintaining a healthy weight, is not actually a secret at all. No fad diet needed. No special dance class based on the ancient art of South American broom sweeping. Just maintain regular exercise and eat a healthy balanced diet. Once I get into the routine of running at least 3 times per week, karate training at least once per week, and eating a balanced diet with no snacking then my weight starts dropping down towards where it should be. So 19 days into Juneathon and I am 1.3kg lighter than when I started and my 10k time is approaching my PB level again.

Today I faced a completely unexpected question from a work colleague: where have you been to get your suntan? My first response was ‘blimey, what suntan?’ then I looked at my wrist and noticed a Garmin sized white stripe. It seems that running for an hour outside each day, even when it is not noticeably sunny, will get you a gradual suntan.

Today I wore my new Asics for the first time in anger and ran a 10k loop around the Isle of Dogs. No problems from the shoes so far and they seemed comfortable to me. They do have a lot more cushioning but I am unsure whether this was because my old Brooks were worn out.
